ANIC Equality Unit Under Section 75 of the Northern Ireland Act 1998, Northern Ireland 's 16 colleges of further and higher education were designated in 2001 as being ‘public bodies' for the purposes of this legislation. ANIC's Equality Unit is currently supporting each college in the areas of policy and training to fulfil their legal obligations under this equality legislation.
